2013 Hockey Victoria Stakeholder Survey

Once again Hockey Victoria is seeking all members’ feedback about the 2013 season.  Hockey Victoria invites its members to reflect on the past year and have a say in the future programs and processes for 2014.  This year’s survey is linked to the new strategic plan which aims to grow the game by becoming a safe, welcoming and inclusive community sport of choice for all Victorians.

The questions are aligned with Hockey Victoria’s seven key pillars:
1. Competition and Events
2. Participation and Development
3. High Performance and Athlete Development
4. Governance and Leadership
5. Financial Management
6. Communication and Promotion
7. Facilities

The survey takes about ten minutes to complete and provides members with the chance to provide their honest thoughts and opinions. This will help us provide the programs and services that meet the needs of the membership.

As an incentive to complete this year’s Stakeholder Survey, Hockey Victoria are giving away a $200 Just Hockey voucher for one lucky member. To enter, simply provide us with your email address upon completing the survey to go into the draw to win the Just Hockey voucher.

Altona Celebrates Fair Go, Sport! Round

Altona Celebrates Fair Go, Sport! Round

Last weekend we celebrated Fair Go, Sport! Round when our Premier League women and men competed against Doncaster. The day was a final celebration following a build up of activity which included a club video feat. Cr Tony Briffa and David Burns as well as a poster competition for our club members. While both Cr Tony Briffa and Cr Sandra Wilson were unable to attend on the day they both strongly supported the club’s involvement and Cr Briffa allocated $500 of Ward Funds towards the event. Ben Hartung, CEO of Hockey Victoria, and Peter Gourlay from Victorian Equal Opportunity & Human Rights Commission were both in attendance and expressed what a fantastic event the club had produced. Peter was especially impressed by the number of members who spoke to him about the importance of our involvement in the project. Ben was impressed with how the members of our club as well as Doncaster embraced the initiatives. He spoke fondly of his memories of Altona over his hockey career including great times spent playing in the Ford Cup and some not so great times of a State League 1 game where Darren Duff scored 3 goals on him in a 15 minute period before he broke his thumb in a tackle (No doubt our crowd would have expressed our deepest sympathy) before being dropped to the seconds for the next 5 weeks.
The winner of our poster competition is the Brooker Family. They will be awarded a $100 club voucher or a voucher for our sponsors Hockeyworld.

Kerrie Myyrylainen took the lead for our involvement in Fair Go, Sport! Her efforts have provided a great foundation for us to continue to make our club more accepting and welcoming. The whole club should be proud of our achievements in the Fair Go, Sport project this year.
