In 2013 hockey Victoria introduced a JSC club based state championship. Altona entered a team in both the girls and the boys. The boys competition was played over the first weekend in feb and the girls the second weekend.

Altona has been working very hard over the last five years getting kids playing indoor hockey and the results over the two weekends proved so. The first weekend saw the boys have a great couple of days to make it to the grand final and play off against southern. Unfortunately the boys lost a very close game 6-4 with Southern scoring the 6th goal after the siren with a corner. Thanks to Kerry (manager) Heath (warm ups, cool downs) Randell (coach) who did a fantastic job looking after the boys over the weekend. Special mention to Jeremy Coleman who was was the umpires manager for the boys comp.

The next weekend saw the girls turn to show what they could do. The girls started the weekend with a bang with a massive win over KEW, which set the tone for the remainder of the weekend. The girls remained undefeated going into the grand final and were expecting a tough game against Waverley, who they had beaten by only one goal the night before. The Altona girls started well and at half time the score was 4–1. After the break the girls had to work hard to keep the lead in there favour, with the second half seemed to last forever.

With the siren blasting full time, coaches and parents hearts started to lower their rate back to something closer to normal, the Altona girls were first winners of the Victorian indoor JSC title, winning 4-3 over Waverley. Thanks to Chantelle (manager), Randell (ass. coach), massive congratulations to the girls who worked so hard over the weekend and keep to their structure even in the dieing, tired moments of their 6th game for the weekend and made life easy for me as coach.
