This week marks round 1 for all of our senior players, for some it has been a tough pre-season, for some an enjoyable summer break, but for everyone – we can’t wait to get back into hockey season!

ROUND 1

The newly re-structured and re-named Hockey Victoria Premier League competition kicks off for our men and women on Sunday at the J.K. Grant Reserve, aka the Snakepit, against Hawthorn.

The men will have two players making their debut in the states top grade against a Hawthorn squad bustling with veteran ACT talent Josh Hawes, Jono Stebbings in addition to their young stars Tom Sinclair and Johan Durst. Congratulations and good luck to recruits Matthew Huf (Warrnambool/WestVic) and homegrown junior Tim Sheahan on this fantastic achievement.

In the women, young gun Natasha Sutton (Geelong) will make her debut against Hawthorn. The girls will have their hands full with superstar hockeyroo Claire Messent (who spent a bit of time down at the snakepit over summer training with the men.)
Congratulations to Bronte Kerley and Steph Sarantis will lead the squad as co captains Kerrin Ford and Danielle Schubach who will round out e four person leadership group.

There will be a great atmosphere on Sunday afternoon with the music pumping, a large crowd and plenty of energy out on the field after a long pre-season, so make sure you wear your club colours and come down to support!
