To round out the Premier League season our men and women will be playing a double header at home.  It will be a huge weekend at the Snakepit with the chance for both teams to sign off in style after many ups and downs throughout the year.

Saturday also marks Danielle Schubach’s 100th SL1/Premier League game for Altona.  Having been a member of our top women’s squad since 2000, and a member of the AHC since she was four years old, Danielle has achieved almost all there is in hockey in Australia.  She has played in state indoor and outdoor teams the whole way through juniors, winning numerous player of the tournaments, represented Australia U21 at the Junior World Cup in Boston, became Altona’s first ever home grown Hockeyroo with her full international debut in 2009, also scoring her first international goal in the tournament, and just last year captained the Victorian Vipers to their second Australian Hockey League win, and first since 2003.  It is a great day to recognise Dan’s contribution to our top women’s team and celebrate a great milestone.

Meanwhile on the men’s side we welcome back Matthew Guest, fresh from a Silver Medal at the Pan Am Cup in Canada, who is pulling on the blue and gold for the first time since early in the season. He will greatly bolster the Altona side looking to finish the season on a high with home games against TEM and Waverley.
