The A’s Over 45s bounced back to a big score on Monday night with a 7-0 scoreline against Powerhouse at Albert Park in the rain.

Without 2 of our sharpshooters (i.e. David Stiles hanging out with the younger folk in the Over 35s team and Peter Symons unavailable), we still found the net with renewed frequency.

Young Scott Harvey bagged his first 3 goals, David Burns defied the critics to also bag 3, while Caroline Brooker rounded off the scoring with yet another fine goal.

Caroline Lodge spent more time in attack and showed off some great stick work and run on a wing, while the defence held strong throughout.

We welcomed back David Morton who has lost none of his touch.

Loretta Coverdale was doing a magnificent job at full back until being struck on the finger. Despite losing a couple of litres of blood and the finger being very sore and very swollen, Loretta was on the sidelines cheering on the team until the end of the game.

Unfortunately the injury count is mounting:

  • Loretta: broken finger
  • Derek: dodgy hamstring
  • Harry: dodgier hamstring
  • David Burns: general soreness (but expected to soldier on)
  • Scott Harvey: deliriously happy (will play next week)

Our next game is on Monday (20 July). We are playing at Altona at 8.30pm against Essendon.
