Altona men’s Premier League side powered to a 4-1 win over a misfiring Essendon, whilst the women’s side fell short to last year’s runners-up Essendon Ladies in a tight contest. The Altona men continued their winning streak courtesy of four separate goal scorers to stay atop the Victorian Premier League ladder at the conclusion of round six.

The women unfortunately fell short in Steph Young’s 150th league game to Essendon Ladies 1-0 after they were unable to convert their chances throughout the game. It was an even game and in the end a single first half goal was enough for Essendon. It’s been a disappointing first few weeks for the A girls in terms of results, but their form is starting to build on a promising 2014 season. Both sides take on cross-town rivals Footscray in the Western Derby next Saturday, eager to take the 3-points.
