Another win this week, albeit a hard fought one.

While we locked away a brilliant goal early thanks to Caroline Brooker, half time scoreline was 1 – 1, and we were trying to find a way to cut through a dogged Essendon defence.

PB’s half-time address again paid dividends, and we managed 2 early second half goals to Paul Klieve (goal no. 4 in 2 weeks) and David Stiles (lofted straight drive) to allow for a final score of 3 -1.

Defence was under pressure to the greatest extent this season, with the sweet smelling David Burns, Steve Ferry and Loretta Coverdale playing very important roles in our eventual win.

Injuries going into the game meant that we only had 12.2 players last night (team manager is generously allocated a 0.2 weighting).

We had a request from the Over 35s to provide some playing support that we were unable to accommodate. As it turns out the Over 35s managed to get 11 players together and register a 2-0 win over the previously undefeated Hockey Geelong.

Next game for the Men’s Masters teams are at Altona on Monday 15 June:

  • Over 45s at 7.30pm against MUHC
  • Over 35s at 8.30pm against Powerhouse / St Kilda
