From Hockey Victoria;
Hockey Victoria was recently successful in sourcing $12,500 funding under the Victorian Government’s Volunteer Innovation Program.Hockey Victoria’s initiative, Heroes of Hockey, aims to recognise and reward Club volunteers for their contributions, showcase examples of high achievement and best practice within the volunteering space and inspire other members of the hockey community to invest time into their Club and our sport.
Heroes of Hockey provides each Victorian Hockey Club and Association (including Country Clubs) with the opportunity to nominate one male and one female volunteer from their Club for recognition. Hockey Victoria will also recognise 20 (10 male, 10 female) of its own volunteers across the State Teams, Officiating, Development and Events departments.
Hockey Victoria will not select an overall winner – this scheme is about providing support to all Victorian Hockey Clubs & Associations to recognise their volunteers on equal terms at the State Level.

Nominees Will Receive
· A Volunteer Appreciation Certificate
· One General Admission (Standing Room) Ticket to Semi Final Day (Saturday 8 December) of the 2012 FIH Men’s Champions Trophy to be held at the State Netball Hockey Centre.
· Recognition on Hockey Victoria website
· Recognition in Hockey Victoria’s Annual Report & Grand Final Official Program
Key Dates
· Tuesday 17 July – Nominations Open
· Friday 24 August – Nominations Close
· Tuesday 28 August – All Nominees Announced
· September – Nominees receive Certificate & Ticket via mail.
· Saturday 8 December – Semi Final Day, 2012 FIH Men’s Champions Trophy
Guidelines for Nomination
· Each Club’s nomination must be approved by their President/Chair.
· Nominees can be nominated from any voluntary role across the Club/Association.
· Nominees must have completed duties on a voluntary basis, i.e. not remunerated.
· Nominees must have made a noteworthy contribution to Hockey at Club/Association Level.
· Clubs can nominate a maximum of one male and one female volunteer.
