When?

Friday 11th November, 2016.

Where?

The Substation, 1 Market St. Newport.

Why?

In 2014, we launched a Gala with the objective to raise money for the Altona Hockey Club, which is a non-profit club run entirely by volunteers.

Thanks to great success over the first two years, we have raised over $20,000 and we are now re-surfacing our playing pitch in the coming months. All proceeds raised from this Gala will go towards upgrading our facilities.

100% of the profit from this event will go towards making our club a better facility for our members – a place to be a part of a strong Western Suburbs community, or play hockey at any level from beginner to elite.

Who?

Lachie Hunter

A key component in the Bulldogs Premiership success, Lachie Hunter had a breakout season in 2016.

Finding his way to the Bulldogs as the son of 130-game player Mark Hunter he was in and out of the senior team until the second half of the 2015 season, when he cemented his spot and never looked back. This year winning the Gary Dempsey as the third placed player in the Bulldogs Best and Fairest in a Premiership year.

Mitch Wallis

Another father-son selection, Mitch Wallis came to the Bulldogs as a highly-rated junior and son of a former captain, and did not disappoint. Having an immediate impact in the midfield and ranking 3rd in the Rising Star Award, he is now an experienced hand in the midfield.

His standing in the team made his season ending leg injury even more heartbreaking. In an horrific incident, he snapped his leg in two places ending his season in July and missing the Premiership, despite playing a vital role in getting the team to the finals.

Daniel Giansiracusa

‘Gia’ was drafted in 1999 straight from St. Pauls college, Altona North, and went on to play 265 games and kick 331 goals, retiring a hero at the Bulldogs at the end of the 2014 season. Taking on an on-field mentoring role in his twilight years, it was no surprise when he stepped straight into coaching.

Now within two years of taking on the assistant coach role he has had the ultimate success that he never tasted as a player, leading the forward line over the past two seasons.
