Altona Bowling Club Partnership

Bowled over by sponsorship

The Altona Bowling Club has now come on board on as a sponsor of the Altona Hockey Club.  The sponsorship provides a great benefit to the hockey club and our members.  The club will allocate the sponsorship funds directly to facility development work while the benefit to hockey club members is the ability to take out free membership of the Altona Bowling Club.  Membership forms will be available at the club and the benefits are significant:

  • Reduced price drinks
  • Bistro (open for Lunch Thursday – Friday Noon till 2:00pm. Dinner Monday – Saturday 5:30pm till 8:30pm)
  • Rewards points for members
  • Live music
  • Barefoot Bowls

Check out the Altona Bowling Club website and Facebook for details.

Incorporated into the agreement is the sponsorship of Taylah and Jessica Brennan, two of our Premier League stars.  Jess and Tazlar were honoured to be sponsored by the Altona Bowling Club where their grandfather, Paul Dodd, was a club champion, President and Life Member.

Altona Bowling Club Partnership

Our Chairman, David Burns, was extremely grateful for the support. “A unique part of the Altona and Hobsons Bay community is the support clubs and organisations provide to each other.  By supporting each other to progress and achieve our goals we ultimately all become stronger.  The Altona Bowling Club is much more than a bowling club.  It’s a club for everyone with some great facilities and a brilliant atmosphere”.

A number of hockey club members enjoyed the facilities at the Altona Bowling Club recently with an afternoon of Barefoot Bowls.

Round 1 at the Snakepit

Round 1 at the Snakepit

AHC v Camberwell

Round 1 is finally here for our senior players!

We are already off to a flying start with both of our men’s Masters team securing wins on Monday night (our Women’s Master’s had a well deserved rest with a bye), but the action picks up this weekend!

Facing off in a replay of last year’s Semi-Final, our Premier League men will be keen to make amends against a star-studded Camberwell line-up featuring Commonwealth Games gold medallists Andy Philpott and George Bazeley. The A’s will be without stars Matthew Guest (keep an eye and ear out for Guest in the crowd) and Steve Campbell, but the fired up youngsters will be sure to take it up to Camberwell at home, with a similar line-up to the one that beat reigning Premiers Greensborough 2 weeks ago. Felix Melder is making his debut in the net fresh from playing for Victoria in the U18 National Championships, and Pat Phillips will be playing his 100th Premier League game.

Our Premier League women have also been working hard over the off-season, continuing to build on last season’s efforts, while also picking up Elise Webster and U18 Victorian player Emma Hatton. They will face tough opposition in Camberwell with Sophie Taylor and Krissy Bates recently selected in the junior Australian squad, and Laura Barden in the Australian Women’s development squad. The A’s will be led by our own Hockeyroo Danielle Schubach, with Sandy Yeates making her Premier League debut alongside Hatton and Webster, as they look to make a decisive statement in round 1.

Dinner will be served from 6-7pm at the club, $10 for adults, $5 for kids for Chicken, potatoes and salad! We hope to see you there for a huge opening round at the club.
