AHCOC tied with AHCYC
153 runs a piece

OC YC Cricket

The inaugural Altona HC Cricket Challenge ended in controversy on Sunday. While the AHCYC thought they had won the match, an audit of the scores today has seen the match actually ending in a tie, with both teams ending on 153 runs each.

The AHCYC were ecstatic after the match, yesterday afternoon, running onto the ground at the end of proceedings after getting the required runs with a ball to spare thanks to unlikely hero Callum “If I close my eyes, will the ball still hit me” Mudford.

Going into the match as underdogs given their lack of spine and cricketing experience, the AHCYC frustrated the more experienced, talented and better looking AHCOC side with inconsistent bowling and interesting batting techniques.

The A’s crowd that came along were entertained by some great batting (Ben Burriss and Kieran Symons), tight bowling (The Prez and Andrew “Goldy” Scanlon), great fielding (Tyson Priddle), match-saving keeping (Kev Brennan and Ian Bartlett) as well as a lot of sub-standard cricket (Briza Fanning, Mick Gallo, Peter Symons and Scott Fitzgerald)…

Was a great afternoon, despite a broken tooth and windscreen, and the start of a great new tradition.
