 Altona Hockey Club is recognised as one of the top clubs in the Victorian Hockey Association. We are proud to be located in Altona and the Western Suburbs.

AHC is priviledged to have both Men's State League 1 and Women's State League 2 teams. The Men's SL1 team has had continuous representation in the premier league for over 30 years. This is a unique and enviable position to be in. We achieve this by developing and nurturing local talented sports people who are passionate about playing hockey for our club. We are a truly and proudly local sports club, catering to the needs of the Hobsons Bay Community. All levels of skill and all ages of players are and have always been welcome to join.

AHC has for many years had an amalgamated Men's and Women's club. This has always been seen as a sensible and inclusive way to run a club. It has also made the club strong and efficient with its management. The club consequently has equal representation of both men's and women's teams, this is also reflected at club board level and across all aspects of the club administration. There is a strong culture of participation, involvement and friendship at the club with a focus on family friendly sport. The AHC has an excellent reputation locally for these qualities.

As a sport hockey is quite unique in that girls and boys may elect to play in the same teams up until the U17 age groups. Opportunities for girls to play in girls only teams from U13 onwards has seen an increase in female participation and retention in the club and for the past two years our U17 girls have won the A grade competition.

Altona Hockey Club is proud to be able to offer hockey at an elite level, as evidenced by our junior and senior players participating in regional, state and national hockey teams. Members of the Altona Hockey Community are also active in the Victorian Association in administration and state coaching roles.

Hockey is a sport that can be played at all age groups with our junior minkey program providing coaching for children under seven years old. Altona also has three veterans teams with some players playing well into their sixties.
